About

About What’s That Picture?

This site originally launched in January 2007 as a place where people could upload their vintage photographs and have others come and identify them.  Such crowd-sourcing initiatives are widespread, and I soon found myself posting my own pictures on Flickr, which proclaims itself as ‘almost certainly the best online photo management and sharing application in the world’, rather than on my own site.  Flickr has a wonderful community and I’ve had many, many of my pictures identified there, or simply had small nuggets of fascinating information added and opinion expressed.

    How do I post photos?

Hi Andy, for some reason I didn’t get notified of your post. I no longer host photos on the site, but encourage people to post them on Flickr where there is a great community of vintage photo people. If you’re on Twitter you could also Tweet me @PhotosOfThePast and I’ll help distribute any requests.

      Best, James
