It certainly looks like the Teign estuary exactly where suggested. The opposite bank looks a bit close, but that might be a trick of perspective. Is the engine number definitely 46 or could it be 16 and is that a 7 after the N? </br>

Based on this lead I took a look on Google maps, more out of curiosity than anything else. But the match is incredible, right down to the small bridge that this photo might have been taken from (I hadn't even registered the fact that it must have been taken from a bridge). If you take a look at this map you'll see what I mean. The little pointer is on the bridge (a small footbridge i think) and the viewpoint must be almost exactly due East, across to Shaldon. But I've leapt to conclusions like this one before, so can anyone confirm? I wonder what the properties are that the bridge gives access to?

Just a suggestion for someone with more expertise to pick up on : could it be the stretch of Great Western main line between Teignmouth & Newton Abbott? It looks a bit like the Teign estuary with Shaldon on the opposite bank, but it's a bit hazy.
