HMS Gwenllian - WW2 minesweeper (converted steam trawler)
This is a *huge* Second World War press image (20" across). On the back there's a prepared 'official' caption which reads:
BIG HAND FOR A JOB WELL DONE
MORNINGS WORK: 11 MINES DESTROYED
Lining the deck rail of their minesweepers, the crew give a "big hand" to a sister ship as she steams by. After a good mornings sweep
Minesweeper 544 is HMS GWENLLIAN. Her history may be found at http://www.dogpile.com/dogpile/ws/res...
Certainly was a job well done by a ship built in 1911.
