Commons OSM Test

Experimental map displaying Flickr Commons images on OpenStreetMap. Displays the latest 250 images within the current view.
Larger placemarkers are clusters - click to zoom in.
Smaller placemarkers are individual images - click to view.

The data is refreshed from the Flickr API each time the map is moved or zoomed. Uses the OpenLayers framework.

Wish list / bugs (in order of importance)

Occasionally the image pop-up gets stuck open and can't be closed
Fails to display image pop-up when multiple images have exactly the same coordinates
Needs custom markers and a count of objects in clustered placemarks
Would like to implement a place search, and ability to open/embed map in a specific location/zoom
