Nearly there – second time around

I first launched www.whatsthatpicture.com back in January 2007.  In four years the web has moved on a lot, but the site hadn’t.  In that time the technologies for developing websites and (hopefully!) my skills, have also moved on.  But most significantly, instead of uploading my images here I started using Flickr not just as a place to put photos online and share them, but as somewhere where you can find a huge community of experts, historians, and amazing sleuths, all willing and eager to solve photographic mysteries.

So after a period of neglect I am now completely reworking this site to be much more of a place where those with photographic mysteries can come and find pointers to all the wonderful resources that exist, both in the real and virtual worlds.

Plus of course a showcase for some wonderful vintage photographs.

    Hi,
    Perhaps you can help me.
On Ebay I’m selling an old photo of Windsor Castle by Cartland (ca 1890).
On the rear side of this photograph there is another one with a church on it. Is this also Windsor?
Hope you can answer me so that I can adjust my posting.
    Thanks for your attention.
    Kind regards from Holland,
    Jan

Sorry not to have replied sooner, but I see the item didn’t sell so maybe it’s still worth replying?

I must say I don’t recognise it, and it’s not the obvious candidate, St George’s Chapel. I’d suggest the best thing to do would be to sign up on Flickr, add the image, and then share it in my Whats That Picture group – http://www.flickr.com/groups/whatsthatpicture/
